Mr. Thane Russell

Director, P.Eng

Mr. Russell has 38 years of engineering experience in the petroleum industry, primarily in production operations, drilling and completions, and well optimization. Mr. Russell has a particular interest in the design, manufacture, and commercialization of completion tools. Mr. Russell was one of the founders of Stellarton Energy Limited in 1994, which was sold to Tom Brown Resources of Denver in 2000. Stellarton’s wholly owned subsidiary, Secure Oil Tools, was sold to Schlumberger in 1999. In 2000, Mr. Russell founded Absolute Energy Limited – “AEL” – and is currently the Chairman and President. AEL’s successful operating subsidiary Absolute Completion Technologies Ltd., worked in 45 countries between 2002 and 2017, at which time it was sold to Schlumberger. Mr. Russell has field experience with a number of E&P companies including Texaco, Imperial Oil and Canadian Hunter. Mr. Russell received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, has his designation as a Professional Engineer, and is a Life Member of APEGA.

Mr PRONIP KUMAR BORTHAKUR joined SAZ™ India board as independent director effective from 1st January 2023.Mr. P.K. Borthakur brings in more than four decades of rich & diverse experience in E&P.HE had illustrious career in ONGC, from where he retired as Director (Offshore). He has led multiple large onshore and offshore operations and projects. His wide technical expertise ranges from managing oil & gas operations, Development of marginal fields (both on shore and offshore),artificial lift, well completion, workover operations, well control, reservoir management to processing and extraction of value-added petroleum products. He led entire activities of oil and gas production of ONGC offshore fields. He is a well-recognized and respected technical authority in the Oil and Gas Sector. He was elected as distinguished member of SOCEITY OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERS in the year 2011.

Under his mentorship and guidance, SAZ™ will be able to chart a strong future, which is aligned with Govt of India initiative of make in India..
